Students completing this course will attain the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing.
These skills and knowledge apply to individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drug abuse testing takes place.

This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is not required.
Face to Face minimum duration is 8 hours.
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.
Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and a range of practical assessments including the completion of checklists and drug/alcohol testing reports. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.
There are no renewal requirements for this unit.
