This course is for anyone who works in a workplace in Queensland. The course is designed to equip building occupants with the skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to an emergency situation in their workplace.
This course meets the requirements of the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 for general evacuation and first-response evacuation.

This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is required.
Face to face minimum duration is 2 hours.
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
This course is run in conjunction with your current Emergency Plan. Your business will need to have an Emergency Plan in place for this course to be conducted.
Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.
Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessments including health and safety requirements, identifying hazards, the completion of reports, and a range of checklists relevant to the outcomes of the course. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment which will include managing a small chemical spill and containing a small fire.
There is no renewal recommendation set by the industry for this course.
