About this course

The course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely enter and work in confined spaces. This course covers the identification of confined space hazards, risk assessment procedures, and the implementation of control measures to ensure safety. Participants will learn about the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), atmospheric testing, ventilation techniques, and emergency response procedures specific to confined spaces. The training includes practical exercises to reinforce theoretical knowledge, enabling participants to confidently and competently perform tasks in confined environments while adhering to safety regulations and best practices.

Course Details

Course delivery

This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is required.

Course duration​

  • Standard – Up to 4 hours pre-course learning + up to 10 hours completed face-to-face
  • Fully face to face: Up to 14 hours in total

Pre-requisites​

Learners will require English Language, Literacy, numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills.

Training requirements​

The training includes practical exercises to reinforce theoretical knowledge, enabling participants to confidently and competently perform tasks in confined environments while adhering to safety regulations and best practices.

Assessment requirements​

The assessment requires candidates to safely enter and work in confined spaces on at least two occasions while demonstrating compliance with legislation, workplace procedures, safe work practices, effective communication, and knowledge of confined space hazards, equipment, and emergency procedures.
