About this course

Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to undertake the role of a Fire Safety Officer (FSO), including emergency planning, fire prevention, and coordinating effective emergency response procedures within a facility. Participants will develop an understanding of fire safety legislation, risk management strategies, and the operation of essential fire safety systems and equipment.

Units of competency

Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399

  • PUAFER001- Identify, prevent and report potential facility emergency situations
  • PUAFER002 – Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented
  • PUAFER004 – Respond to facility emergencies
  • PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in a facility

Course Details

Course delivery

This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is required.

Course duration​

Standard: 6 hours pre-course learning + 12 hours completed face-to-face.

Pre-requisites​

Learners will require English Language, Literacy, numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills.

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course.

Entry requirements​

Due to the nature of our course, you must have access to a computer, tablet or Smartphone and a reliable internet connection.

Training requirements​

Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.

Assessment requirements​

Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessment including health and safety requirements, identifying hazards, the completion of reports, and a range of checklists relevant to the outcomes of the course. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.

Course renewal requirements​

It is recommended to renew this course every 3 years.
